This Christian
Drama with music is about Peter's denial of the Lord. It is done in such a way that it
works all year around and not just at Easter. It helps us to see our
shortcomings but also gives us hope that God's love is endless.

JOSIAH
(Josiah walks onto the stage to talk to Peter.) Hello! Peter! What are you doing? Fixing you're father's fishing net?
PETER
This is my net, Josiah. I am fixing it so that I can fish. A man has to make a living.
JOSIAH
I thought you didn't fish anymore. I thought you were following the Master.
PETER
Where have you been, Josiah?
JOSIAH
I have been out of town for a couple of weeks. I went to visit my uncle and I stayed to help with the sheep shearing. Then my uncle threw a big party. We had a great time.
PETER
Then you did not hear what happened to the Master?
JOSIAH
No! I just got back last night and I have not been down to the city gate to hear the latest news. Tell me.... What happened to Jesus?
PETER
They crucified him.
JOSIAH
(shocked) What? When?
PETER
It happened three days ago. The Roman soldiers nailed Jesus to the cross.
JOSIAH
(Josiah puts his head in his hands and paces back and forth) I should have been here. I would have helped you defend the Lord. Did you try to fight off the soldiers?
PETER
I tried to fight back. I tried to defend the Lord. They came at night while the Master was praying. You think they would have had more respect than to arrest Him while He was talking to God. But, no! That traitor, Judas, led the mob straight to Jesus.
JOSIAH
You tried to defend Him?
PETER
Yes! I drew out my sword and cut off the ear of Malchus. He is the servant of the high priest. I was a little off. I was aiming at his head, but someone bumped my arm.
JOSIAH
What happened? Was there a big fight?
PETER
No! I was ready to fight to the death, but Jesus told me to put away my sword.
JOSIAH
Put away your sword! You can't fight without a weapon.
PETER
I know that. The Master commanded that I put away my sword, so I put it away. What was I supposed to do? (Peter threw his hands up in disgust) How can I fight the soldiers without a sword? Then Jesus healed his ear.
JOSIAH
What happened then?
PETER
They bound Jesus and took him to Caiaphas, the high priest.
JOSIAH
Caiaphas. He will get what is coming to him someday!
PETER
I was in the courtyard when they questioned Jesus.
JOSIAH
I would go to my uncle's house. I should have waited. I should have been here with Jesus. We could have encouraged Him, stood with Him at that crucial hour! Peter, I am sorry that you had to stand alone with the Master. I should have been here.
PETER
If you had been here, it would not have made any difference. I denied Him. I did not stand with Jesus in His hour of need. I deserted Him just like the rest. No one stood with the Master. We all tried to save our own lives.
JOSIAH
No, Peter! Not you?
PETER
Yes, my friend. I was afraid. Jesus had warned me, but I was too proud to listen. I was so sure of myself. Jesus said before the night was over; before I heard the rooster crow in the new morning, I would deny Him three times.
JOSIAH
Not you, Peter! You are a strong man. Many times you have put bigger men to flight. Surely, you did not deny the Lord?
